Supreme courts decision on Corporations
The Supreme Court ruled that government might not ban political spending by corporations on candidate election. It was a 5/4 decision. Well this decision has played lots of issues in political parties and people’s mind. It has both advantages and disadvantages. It is more advantageous to the political parties who have lots of money and can advertise anyone they want to. But this is the problem, there are speculation that if this right is given to corporations there is a huge chances of government corruption and an effect on democracy.
What I think is court should not have given the right but should have limited its power because corporation has a separate legal entity and has more capital to invest than an individual so this way it can spend more money on a candidate election than an individual. People have less choice to choose from and will have to choose the one who they don’t want to. And upon that it will have huge negative effect on democracy. This is why am against the supreme courts decision.

I agree I think that if the court keeps with this decision then someday andprobably sooner then later the government will crash. The way theyalready spend money is rediculous and now that there is no ban on it I could only imagin whats going to happen next.
ReplyDeletei agree that this is wrong and yet they are blinded by the money they make and by not seeing how this is creating a huge problem for the voices of the individual. I also think that it is just corrupting our democracy and creating a country of huge hypocritical corporations.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Individuals economic interests, beliefs, and convictions are based on the same level playing field. Corporations engage the political process in an entirely different way and this is what makes corporations so much more damaging. There needs to be control and when you loose control one group of peoples' will gain everything and allow to much power.
